Reiki
Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today I will not worry.
Just for today I will not be angry.
Just for today I will do my work honestly.
Just for today I will be kind to every living being.
Not too long after Dr.Chujiro Hayashi joined Mikao Usui and helped organize Reiki into three levels of teaching, Mrs. Hawayo Takata, from Hawaii, went to Japan, and experienced the benefits of Reiki. In the 1980’s Mrs. Takata began teaching Reiki in the United States. Mrs. Takata initiated 22 Reiki masters in her lifetime. She taught Reiki in the oral tradition. There was no manual and nothing was written down. It is said that she customized her content to whom she was teaching. Over the years, memories fade and alter. This is one explanation of many of the differences in current teaching.

Today the manner of receiving Usui Reiki treatment is similar to the way of the three original practitioners. The client rests fully clothed, either on a treatment table or a chair, and Reiki activated hands are placed on or above the body and Reiki treatment begins. The purpose(s) of receiving a Reiki treatment are varied. Some people consider Reiki treatment as a wellness tool, part of their personal self-care plan. Experiencing relaxation in the body, a calm mind, clarity of thought, perhaps a lessening any physical discomforts and improved sleep are reported benefits of a Reiki treatment. When we are in a place of balance, we are empowered to be our best selves. Other clients have specific areas they want to address and find Reiki treatment pairs well with the medical approach offered from their doctor. Reiki is never a substitute for a medical care or a treatment plan from your doctor.
In addition to providing clients with individual sessions, I also offer training to empower you to open up and allow your own Reiki energy to grow, flourish, and heal yourself and the world around you. There are three levels to Reiki trainings. First Degree Reiki training you learn the history; what it is and what it can do; the Reiki principles; and hand positions for self-Reiki and to offer Reiki to others. In Second Degree training you learn the first three Reiki symbols; how to send Reiki for distant treatments; the ethics of and how to conduct a healing session. Third Degree Reiki Training allows you to take your practice deeper. You learn how to teach First Degree and Second Degree and how to give attunements.

Reiki isn’t just for adults. Children and pets benefit from Reiki treatment, too. Interested children can learn to be a conduit for Reiki. It’s a busy stressful world for kids, as it is for parents, and Reiki treatment can be one way for kids to deal with pressure. Children’s classes are offered as requested. As for pets, in my experience, dogs love Reiki hands on them, and cats not so much. Some pet facilities offer Reiki treatment to animals in their care.

What People Have to Say
I try to get to all of Sue’s yoga class and reiki workshops that I can. They are fun and informative and you get to meet such nice and interesting people. The classes are always relaxing and I learn something new each time
About four years ago, I went to see Sue and had my first reiki session. The result has been that thanks to her, reiki has become an integral part of my life. During the shutdown in 2020, she ran a distance reiki through Zoom at no cost, I am so grateful to her for helping me get through a really tough time. Even though I have received all the attunements through her to become a Reiki Master, I continue to have sessions with her.

My remote Reiki session (I was in CA and Susan was in Maine) left me feeling very relaxed in my body and my mind was less cluttered. I experienced waves of relaxation during the session. After my session was over, I felt wonderful!
